Reading? Why not?
For a long time after I moved up to Scotland, I found it very difficult to read. And for someone who had her nose in a book almost constantly and raided other people’s bookshelves for something new, or got some more from the local library, it was quite a surprise to me.
However, when I was in hospital for the nine week stint at the start of the year, I found I could hold the phone in one hand but I couldn’t do anything with it. Kevin had put the Kindle app on it so I thought I might as well make use of it. And it was actually exciting.
I was reading books I had never even looked at before and they were transporting me to places I had never been. Imagination can really soar when you are reading what someone has written. I like books that give you the chance to really use your imagination and don’t give you absolutely every detail so your brain can form pictures of how everything is in that book world.
This week, I started reading some that were ones I wasn’t even sure I would have liked before. One of them looked SO COMPLICATED because of the number of people in the story and how they were related to other characters in the book. And yet, in spite of all that information, the story flowed well and was easy to follow and I didn’t get bogged down in the number of people that were in the story, as I had feared.
TREASURE
It’s always a good thing to expand your reading skills. Not everybody can follow instructions on paper but reading books can help you mentally as you lock into the world of that particular book.
