News in a Nutshell 8

Well, here we are, this year is going by way too  fast for my liking.  As a child, I felt the summers were endless.  Well, I know that up here in Scotland it has much more rain than down the South East of England and can be much colder.  And today was a windy, rainy day!  My poor carer came in, looking the worse for wear due to the weather.

At the moment, not everything has been put into place for me yet.  I have carers coming in four times a day (which is wonderful) but there are other things I need, too and am waiting on still.  But I know it takes time to get all the referrals in and settled.

Did I tell you that last week Johnathan read me his school play because he knew I wouldn’t be able to attend it?  My goodness!  He is brilliant at putting on different voices and accents.  He’s never attended any drama lessons.  I was going to say that I didn’t know where he got it from but…..

Johnathan used to (well, actually still does if he could!) love sitting in boxes or crates or even his baby bath on the floor in the sitting room!  And while he was sitting I would talk to him in a posh voice and ask him where the “young gentleman” wished to go.  I would make up stories for him of what he would see from the window as he went past scenery and animals etc.

Now I must admit my “posh voice” is not that great.  Sometimes I feel I can empathise with Eliza in My Fair Lady because I haven’t figured out “how” to move my mouth and throat to be able to make the sounds well.

In the school, the Year 6 children perform a play at this time of year.  The build up as been pretty intense, but at least I know that he knows what he is doing!  So this afternoon, Kevin went to the school performance and said that Johnathan did a great job during the play, which was lovely to hear.

And this evening, Kevin took Johnathan to the Cat Cafe in Glasgow.  Last time they were there, it was the quiz night and they won a free meal for 2 in the cafe.  Tonight they came 3rd and once again got a free meal voucher and a couple of other things.  They both enjoyed their time out, but it’s wonderful that they’re back home now.
