Pick of the Week 24

Actually, this is something I heard from someone else this week and I thought “my goodness!  She is so right!.”  If you’re reading this article, I know you can read a blog post, and yes, probably books, maybe music, newspapers etc.

My friend was telling me something that she had heard or read many years ago…”there are two things in life you can NEVER read.  What goes on in someone else’s mind or what goes on in someone else’s marriage.”

I was thinking about it and the full implications of what it is saying.  Nobody can tell you what you are thinking.  They may say they can “read” your body language and so “know” but your body language doesn’t show what you are thinking but can give an indication of what you are feeling to the person watching you.  

So what about marriage?  Well, you cannot say to someone you know what goes on in their marriage.  You are not there living with the couple and yes, you can hear what one of them tells you but that doesn’t mean you actually know what is happening.  It is one view of the marriage from the perspective of the person speaking.

Fact is, you can make assumptions about what someone is thinking or assumptions about their marriage, but unless the person is you, there is no way you can ACTUALLY know.

Nobody knows what you are thinking or the basis of your marriage.  It is a closed book to them, whether they like it or not.
