News in a Nutshell 9
The very first thing I ought to tell you about is that Kevin is starting a new job at the end of June. He is very happy with the choice and he will be learning new things as he goes along, while managing a group of people.
When we first got together, Kevin didn’t believe he was manager type material. I must admit, I always knew he was but as his wife I wanted to support him in every way I could so I didn’t push for him to enter the management side of the job in computing that he does.
Johnathan is coming up to the end of Year 6. As you have probably seen, he has made an album of experimental music and a single track as well. I am very proud of him. His skills are varied and I can’t imagine not hearing his little giggle over something he finds funny and he tells me and I have NO idea what the joke actually is!
Well, he starts Year 7 in August and will be 12 years old in September. And the year after that he starts secondary/senior/high school. Looking back over the years we have had with him, yes, ok, there have been difficult times (but I think that’s true for any family in the world) but there has always been lots of love and laughter underpinning it all.
And for myself? Well, I am getting used to the carers coming in and have seen the difference they are starting to make with me. Also, the cpap (on a good night) REALLY helps me feel more energised. I’m not half asleep or even FAST asleep in the day any more. Wow! Sleep apnea is not something you enjoy!
Finding the balance in life isn’t easy, but I am getting there. It seems so odd to have Kevin at home all the time (although I do love it) but he generally does help me to keep my mental health up. So when he starts working again, that’s going to be interesting. But there ARE plans being put in place to help me.
