More on mental health

In a recent post I was talking about some of the things that can be done to restore mental health.  I just wanted to cover some more things in this post that can make a difference with mental health.

You’ve probably heard over the years that it’s a good idea to get outside and go walking in the silence or whatever and listen to the noises around you.  For Kevin, Johnathan and I that wasn’t really practical for us as a family so we did a slightly changed version of it.

Instead of walking we have driven around a fair bit of Scotland. It’s one of the great things that really helped my mental health.  Kevin would find a point on a map and we would take a drive there, trying to use as many different roads as we could.  When I was dipping down and getting worse Kevin would suggest a drive in beautiful countryside.

So now that we have no car because of my health, this isn’t an option at present.  However, if the cpap and change in my medications and everything happening makes a MASSIVE difference to me then it might be possible to get another car.  Something will happen to make it work.

TREASURE

Getting out into beautiful scenery is a wonderful boost to mental health.  Focus your eyes on what is around you rather than what you’re feeling inside.  Let the scenery fill and soothe your soul, helping your mental health.
