News in a Nutshell
Some time back, I completed the online sleep assessment and you get a score up to 24 or 25 and if you are over 16 then it’s essential you get referred to the sleep clinic. Well, I did mine and thought I was 22. Kevin said that was ridiculous and did it for me as well and told me it was 18, so when I rang the doctor we said 19.
Of course, as the current custom now is, (here’s hoping we get to some kind of normality in the NHS) it took ages for me to be seen. And Kevin made sure the first test was done in the correct way and couldn’t get it to email the team. He called them to speak to their technical people who asked him what he had done and said that was all they would have done so we had to do another.
Anyway, I was in hospital (got to the stage I felt like I could have had my own room there) and having seizures. They did yet another test to see what it was like and it was bad. Soooooooo…….then the struggle came to find the right mask and headgear.
I tell you, I don’t know how many ways I tried each mask to get the ruddy thing to work properly and was STILL moving it what felt like every few minutes in the night. The mask that Kevin found online SEEMED to be probably best for me. Only difficulty was that it is for someone that sleeps on their side….welcome to side sleeping!
This mask was the best of the bunch. With all the others, you are meant to sleep on your back. The other day I thought I wouldn’t lose anything by TRYING to sleep on my back with it. WOW! I had the first DEEP SOLID SLEEP that I have had for YEARS. In fact, I have NO IDEA when the last time was!
TREASURE
You don’t ALWAYS have to do things the one way. And I know that the multitude of my conditions cause issues with all sorts of things they don’t in other people. So just because that’s what it’s recommended for isn’t always the BEST way for that person to do it.
