Instinctive Reactions

While Johnathan has been so poorly we have been watching quite a bit of CBBC.  Well, ok, I have been watching it while Johnathan has mostly let it flow over him but concentrates on it as and when he can.  Not that you needed to know that, but it is the background to what I wanted to share with you.

In one of the programmes, there was a woman who was TERRIFIED of heights.  I mean, seriously terrified.  To the extent that she would freeze if she wasn’t safely on the ground. But she saw a child on the top of a climbing frame and her instinct INSTANTLY kicked in.

Before the woman could even blink, she was on top of the climbing frame with the child, comforting and reassuring them while she waited for someone to come and help.  As I was watching, I remembered times when I have just acted from instinct and done something I wouldn’t naturally have done.

One of the times I remember was when I had a child in my arms and was walking down some outside steps off the upper patio, onto the lower one and tripped, but somehow managed to twist myself around so that when I fell, I was underneath and the baby was on top of me so the child didn’t get hurt.

TREASURE

Instinctive reactions can save a situation, but we do them without thinking because the instinct kicks in first.
