Thoughts of the week 37

If you’ve read my latest post on Johnathan coming home from hospital, you won’t be surprised at the topic I have been considering this week.  It’s the link between our bodies and minds.

I will admit that it’s not often a subject that I tend to consider.  Life simply goes on and whether our lives are governed by our body or mind or a combination of the two isn’t something I think about very often.

However, when I came out of hospital last year after breaking my right hand, I became incredibly aware of how much my mind and body were impacting each other.  The more I looked around and saw the things I could no longer do, the more depressed it made me in my mind and vice versa.

When living with situations that aren’t ideal, carrying on becomes a habit even if there is no happiness involved.  It can take a big shock to the mind to force reconsideration and enable the individual to change the circumstances they are in.

I am sure you have hit the place of utter exhaustion where both your mind and body have had enough and you just HAVE to go to sleep.  And yet there are times when it is either one or the other so you have to tire the other before sleep will come to you.

TREASURE

My body and mind are connected in ways that aren’t easy to understand and yet impact me even when I am not aware of the connection or which one is being the most powerful in that situation.
