Thoughts of the week 18

I’ve been thinking a lot about anxiety and fear this week. i don’t think it’s been in a bad way. But there are so many things that can cause me fear and anxiety. But fear and anxiety may not always be the wrong reaction.

What? But anxiety and fear can cause nasty reactions in the body - they can make you sick or in pain, and you have the fright, flight or freeze reaction that i am sure you have seen or felt in yourself. in fact, with the adrenaline pumping through your body, it can be a dangerous drug you become addicted to.

if fear and anxiety never existed, there are so many things that would not have developed as they have been through the centuries. Fear of death, for example, makes people keep away from dangerous situations. They wouldn’t go to the top of Mount Everest and throw themselves off the edge of the mountain, thinking they will hit the bottom safely. Common sense, isn’t it really?

And then you get someone who is extremely anxious, like myself. i have to take medication to help myself every day like many other people around the world. Yes, there are times I wish i could just not be terrified of things. Trouble is, your body responds before you have time to think about it.

Therapy is also important when you get into anxious states that are impossible to control. Working out why and how you react a certain way goes a long way to getting you better.

Medication for fear and anxiety can really help, but it’s also wise to look for therapy as well, if you can. And never stop taking it until a doctor tells you not to.tial in life.  But sometimes we need to accept help so that we can become what we are meant to be.
