Thoughts of the week
I was thinking about when people have difficulties in life. I know it’s not easy to even ADMIT you need help in the first place and even when you have done so, there is so much more to go through.
And just while I was typing, the smoke at the Vatican changed and we now have a new Pope! I was shocked to hear he was dead on Easter Monday because I had seen him on Easter Sunday and thought he looked much improved. But you know what? For him it must be satisfying to think that he celebrated the most important event in the church calendar just before e went.
After writing this the new Pope Leo XIV has been announced - the VERY FIRST American Pope in the history of the papacy. Be interesting to see how he deals with the role.
Anyway, this wasn’t intended to be about the Pope, but I wanted to write about people who need help. For someone to actually GET the help they need, it is imperative that they recognise the fact they need it. And sometimes this is one of the hardest places in the world to reach.
And once THAT place has been reached, the person has to recognise that change must come. Change is never easy but taking things slowly is the way to do it. I have realised that if you try and change too much too quickly it just doesn’t work. Looking back at the failure of new year resolutions demonstrates it so well.
After realising the need for help, then the change/s that need to happen, the next thing is to find the RIGHT people for help and support with whatever is needed. It isn’t easy to ask for the help necessary, but it is right to be honest and truthful about it so that you get EXACTLY what you need - not just what you assume you need.
Sometimes I have discovered that what I think I need isn’t completely accurate. People who deal with whatever the issue is as a daily routine know what’s needed, but I don’t.
TREASURE
To get help, we have to first understand we need it, then accept it, then find the right person to give it and be honest with exactly what the need is so the helper can fulfil them .
