Animal antics at home
When Maisie was young I knew I needed to take her to get groomed. I went to a groomer in a pet shop and the lady said to me that they needed Maisie to have tranquillisers before she came because she moved too much.
Even with the tranquillisers, it made no positive difference to her behaviour (apparently they had the opposite effect on Her), So I had to find another place for her to go to. I did think about getting a possible travelling groomer, but there weren’t any. Then my in laws suggested one that they had seen dogs come out of looking really great.
Unfortunately, I went to collect her one time and the groomer didn’t tell me she had accidentally cut her dew claw and it was slowly seeping blood. I got her home and she was bouncing round the house as usual and we noticed blood spots in different places and we discovered what happened.
We called the next day to complain and the owner hadn’t even been informed by the groomer that this had happened. The next time she had to go, she just couldn’t go in - due to the stress of it all.
So had to find another place that would take her. The groomer rang me to say she was terribly sorry but she had cut the dew claw and if I could come and pick them up she would come to the vet with me and pay for everything and do all the care needed.
Fortunately Maisie really liked this lady so was happy to go back. Then something happened globally….remember what? And she gave up her job….
Now we have a lovely place here and they have been brilliant with her. She is happy to go and comes back “looking smaller” because it grows quite fast and you forget how skinny her legs are until she is done again.
TREASURE
Finding a groomer who is not only good with the dog but can send them home really happy is great. Trusting others with your animals isn’t always easy.
