Thoughts of the week 15

I was just writing about peace and thought that actually I would carry on with it a bit because I wanted to cover some more things about it than can be done in one post.  It is so important for children to see peace embodied in our lives, because they learn from us and if they never see it, what can they know about it?

Did you know that you can have emotional support animals?  So it’s not JUST guide dogs for the blind that are trained up to help people.  And there is a dog that comes to my son’s school for children to read to them and stimulate good memories of them reading, hugging or petting a dog.  Actually, I have some photos of our son reading a cat book to Tara, our new cat some years ago.  She would sit and he would put the book upright on the ground reading and pointing out the photos of other cats in the book.

This isn’t to say I have an emotional support animal myself, but I do remember when I moved from my parents house I KNEW I needed an animal who would be there for me because I would be lonely and I got a cat.  And Kevin always promised me that I could have a dog when we moved into a place where I just had to open the door and the dog could go out.

We can have peace in our thoughts, our hearts, our minds, about others, in different situations.  Sometimes at times there is no visible light at the end of a long dark tunnel.  Whether that peace lasts moments or days, remembering it is so important.

Personally, I find creativity a time where I love it to be peaceful and quiet.  Sometimes I even use creativity as a process to take me back to peace.  I remember someone telling me that she cleans the kitchen from top to bottom to help her calm down…I’d probably break everything that is breakable if I tried, because I have a special ability to drop ANYTHING, especially when I am not content, so it wouldn’t be good for me to try to do that.

TREASURE

Everyone CAN enjoy peaceful moments or memories, or find ways to get them to that state of mind.  It’s finding out exactly works best for you, as the individual.
