I stood back up alone

I stood back up alone

Mourning what I thought I had

Not knowing of the difference.

My new life had begun

Without the old “safety net”

Which I found were full of holes

Not of my own making

The past hadn’t wanted me

I hoped the present would

Until I found a gaping wound

Suspicion without proof.

Once again I wasn’t asked

Not told my truth had changed

I thought I had found a place

Where finally I could rest

Betrayal burns deep within

The body keeps the score

It knows no peace of mind

The psyche of the soul.

I will not lie to you my friend

The reader of my words

This has all gone on before

Others have also lived with it

Find those people in strange places

Ask how they made it through

It may not give you answers

Just a chance to see it through.

Life unbalanced is just that

Without any buoyancy

I know that you could drown in it

Or stand back up, alone.
