Pick of the week 17

Well, I am grateful for alarms that tell us we could be in danger.  And the fact that the thing actually went off.  Although it can be stressful when something like this happens.

Last night I felt like I had just fallen asleep and this REALLY LOUD BEEPING NOISE started.  Startled me to wakefulness for quite some hours.  Kevin went round the house, smelling and seeing if he could see any smoke.  I can’’t remember if it then went off a couple more times at night but we were very grateful Johnathan didn’t wake up!

I know I have told you about Johnathan’s sensory issues - Sensory Processing Disorder (generally associated with autism).  And one of the common sensory issues is hearing.  Kevin couldn’t see or hear anything and the animals weren’t being bothered so we thought it was one of the alarms having gone wrong.

However, in the morning, it went off a number of times.  Poor Johnathan was getting very upset with the racket so I suggested he put his earphones on and listen to some music or something and I rang the council to get someone out to have a look.later.

Anyway, it was thought that the infrared was playing up.  However, when the carer came for the teatime visit, I asked her for a cup of tea and there was a slight smell near the kettle….Kevin took the kettle plug out the wall and one of the pins had actually melted a bit!

TREASURE

So now we KNOW what is wrong, we can move forward with the safety and security of our house being the most important thing to enable life to continue to flow.
