Focus on the Family 4 (I think)

I know it’s been a while since I have written about the family, but I wanted to catch up with things again.  So much and so little has happened…it’s kinda hard to know how to put it all together.

Anyway, let’s start with Kevin.  It’s his birthday in the middle of the month and no, I haven’t decided exactly what to get him…I only realised this evening that this was coming up.  It’s so wonderful to see his continued enjoyment at his work - the days he goes into the office as well as the time he spends at home, working (generally from the bed so that I can be in the sitting room with Johnathan).

Before we talk about Johnathan I just want to say that my mental health has been more down than up recently.  However, having said that, I have now been assigned a new social worker to reassess my needs and she is a lovely lady and I think things will go really well with her.

It didn’t help me that Maisie (my dog) ended up squealing and unable to jump up on the chair, sofa, bed as she would normally do.  Not knowing exactly what was wrong I was worried that at her age (11 years) it might be the end.  Luckily it’s just damage to her back that will happen every so often now that she is an older dog.  PHEW!

Now, I didn’t know there was such a thing as an online transition from primary to secondary school and it has been a real blessing for Johnathan.  As you know, it’s been a long time he’s taking to recover from the post viral syndrome he got in January so this option is amazing!

Today I had a meeting with a number of people in both schools and we discussed the situation as it is now, the needs he already had and now has.  Obviously, we don’t know how much or how quickly he will recover when he starts treatment next week.  But my concern over how we would prepare a phased return to school has been erased.  They will contact me a couple of days before school starts and we will get the plan sorted and organised.

TREASURE

When I can’t use the normal answers, I need to remind myself that I don’t need to panic (although that is generally my first response!).  It turns out there were different routes to get the same results and it’s been a big relief to me.
